Visit Polk County's fun farm this fall
Ankeny area corn maze opens for 13th fall season
Geisler Farms marks its 13th season of Growing Family Fun east of Ankeny on First Street. Beginning on Saturday, Sept. 2nd, visitors can explore the 10-acre corn maze and four miles of trails on the weekends through October.
The 2017 maze design is an enormous ribbon with the words CHILDHOOD CANCER. The four miles of trails in the 10-acre maze should prove to be challenging and fun to walk. Promotional partners of the maze are DEKALB, Casey’s General Store and Van-Wall Group.
Farm admissions and concessions will be inside the expanded Red Shed, which has another 4,000 square feet of hosting room. It includes a new kitchen and restrooms. Another new feature is the sales barn. The barn was moved from the east side of the farm to serve as the new pumpkin sales area.
Pumpkins and other fall decorations will be available for purchase beginning Sept. 9th. Visitors may take pictures next to the 8 ft. tall big pumpkin.
Groups of 10 people or more may call ahead and reserve a firepit to enjoy for two hours during their farm visit on the weekends or week nights. Bring your own hotdogs, s’mores and sodas for a unique outdoor experience.
The fun zone now boasts 20 family activities. The admission price remains the same as last year. General admission for the maze and fun zone is $8.00 per person. Children age two and under are admitted free. Admission to the fun zone is $5.00. There is no admission to purchase a pumpkin.
The farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays during September and October. Hours are 10 am to 8 pm both days. Geisler Farms is conveniently located east of Ankeny at 5251 NE 94th Ave., Bondurant. For additional information, visit www.geislerfarms.com/.
