It's Pumpkin Picking Season at Geisler Farms
Geisler Farms is your source for pumpkins, fall decorations and farm fun
Open weeknights during October for pumpkins
It’s pumpkin season at Growing Family Fun. We have plenty of our farm-grown pumpkins of all sizes to select. In particular, there are some fantastic 20- to 40-pound pumpkins available in the patch. In addition, we have corn shocks, big straw bales for $5 apiece, winter squash, pie and mini pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, ear corn and mums.
There is no admission to purchase pumpkins. Our pumpkin patch, not the maze, will be open on weeknights unless it is raining from 4 – 6 p.m. from Oct. 3rd through Oct. 28th.
A new product grown at the farm this season is broom corn. It is actually a variety of sorghum that comes in several fall colors. The seed heads may be used to hang on the door or wall, assembled into a broom or wreath, or may be used in a vase or bouquet. When you are done, you may feed the seeds to the birds. The cost is $5 per bundle.
Now open on Friday nights
If the weekend is too busy, perhaps you can visit the corn maze on a Friday night. The farm will take maze admissions from 5 p.m. up until 7 p.m. on Friday nights beginning Oct. 3rd.
Open Columbus Day
Geisler Farms has special hours on Columbus Day, Oct. 10. The farm and pumpkin patch will be open between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.
Help your Neighbor
Bring a nonperishable food item for our Share the Bounty food drive and receive $1 off your corn maze admission (limit 1 food item/person). All items are donated to the Des Moines Area Religious Council's Emergency Food Pantry.
Watermelon and butternut squash for sale
Purchase your farm fresh watermelon from Geisler Farms for just $5.00. We grew a round variety called crimson sweet that averages between 20 to 25 pounds. The other variety is oblong shaped sangria that also averages 20 to 24 pounds. Both varieties have dark red flesh and seeds. There’s also farm-raised butternut squash available for $2.50 each.
Christmas will be here in less than 90 days. Geisler Farms will have precut Fraser fir Christmas trees and wreaths for sale this holiday season. Christmas tree sales hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving weekend. The farm will sell trees every afternoon through December while supplies last.
Take the stress out of holiday baking by purchasing our frozen take and bake apple pies for $11 each. We also offer apple crisp and pumpkin pie.
