Nine Weeks of Fun Scheduled for Geisler Farms
Central Iowa Maze Opens for 12th Fall Season
Geisler Farms marks its 12th season of Growing Family Fun northeast of Des Moines. Beginning on Saturday, Sept. 3, visitors can explore the 10-acre corn maze and four miles of trails on the weekends through October.
The 2016 maze design is a farm scene featuring stalks of corn, pumpkins and Christmas trees. Geisler Farms launched the maze in 2005 and has sold corn shocks and pumpkins ever since. In 2015, the farm began selling pre-cut Fraser fir Christmas trees. Promotional partners of the maze are DEKALB, Casey’s General Store and Van-Wall Group
Get a bird’s-eye view of the maze and farm by climbing our observation deck then slide down one of the two tube slides. Geisler Farms has 15 activities in the fun zone that adults can enjoy with their children including a tractor tire swing, adult trikes, hamster rolls and corn toss games. Bounce around on the 30 ft. x 50 ft. jump pad. Weekend hayrides are also available, weather permitting.
Because of this summer’s heat, pumpkins and other decorations will be available for purchase beginning Labor Day weekend. Take pictures next to the 8 ft. tall pumpkin. Concessions, gifts and restrooms are located inside the Red Shed.
Groups of 10 people or more may call ahead and reserve a firepit to enjoy for two hours during their farm visit on the weekends or week nights. Bring your own hotdogs, s’mores and sodas for a unique outdoor experience.
The farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays during September and October. Hours are 10 am to 8 pm both days. Geisler Farms is conveniently located east of Ankeny at 5251 NE 94th Ave., Bondurant. General admission for the maze and fun zone is $8.00 per person. Children age two and under are admitted free. Admission to the fun zone only is $5.00. There is no admission to purchase a pumpkin.
